2026 Parade Grand Marshal
Denise Squadere-Deso
Denise Squadere-Deso has been named the 2026 Niska Day Parade Grand Marshal in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the Niskayuna community. A Special Education teacher for 31 years, Denise has made a lasting impact both in the classroom and through her leadership as a cheerleading coach.
She coached Niskayuna cheer from 1995–2002 and returned in 2014, leading the team to numerous achievements, including an undefeated season in 2024 and Suburban Council and Section 2 Championships. Her program has also earned multiple runner-up finishes at both the Suburban Council and sectional levels. In 2023, she was honored as the New York State Spirit Coach of the Year.
Denise’s dedication, mentorship, and commitment to excellence have inspired generations of students and athletes, making her a truly deserving Grand Marshal.

Food Drive
The Niska-Day Food Drive has been a part of the Niska-Day parade for over 20 years. Named in honor of its founder, Nancy Gorgos, the Drive is now run by her daughter, Debra Gorgos.
There are a variety of ways to donate non-perishable food as well as personal care items! Shopping carts, donated by the Niskayuna Co-op, are pushed at the end of the parade by volunteers. Feel free to place as many items as you can into the carts. The Food Drive Truck will also be parked near the Niska-Day Information Tent from noon to 3 p.m. during Niska-Day and donations may be placed in the truck.
This year, all donations will go to the Sycamore Collaborative (formerly known as the SICM Food Pantry) out of Schenectady, New York. We look forward to your continued support of this charitable tradition!
